I know, I know, it’s only July. But you have probably noticed that stores are already rolling out their “Back to School” collections. Clothes, backpacks, and school supplies are all making their way to shelves. So, how can you help your little ones get ready for their return to school this fall?
For your preschooler, consider sending them to their first day with personalized Yo Gabba Gabba! backpack and rainbow art set.
For an elementary school-aged child, consider a Sid the Science Kid lunch box or pencil case.
The children’s show Yo Gabba Gabba! is full of surprises, but one thing in particular keeps us watching again and again: an episode rarely passes without a visit from a celebrity guest. Now, young children may not understand the star power of their favorite show, but parents see it and it’s one of the parts we love best. As soon as the show turns on, we ask, “Who’s going to join the party today?”
There is a simple reason Yo Gabba Gabba! is so refreshing: it was not created by Network gurus. Rather, this show was created by two fathers with no prior television writing experience. They only knew the interests of their children and the void they felt for interesting, creative programming. Being musicians themselves, they caught onto the celebrity craze at the beginning, inviting guests as varied as Weird Al and the band Sugarland. The visitors appear in DJ Lance Rock’s fantasies to share stories, songs, or dances. Each time he turns on his magic boom box, the party starts!
The star power of Yo Gabba Gabba! is one of the things that keep parents watching, but parents aren’t the only ones who’ve taken notice. The show has continued to garnish attention and acclaim since its inception in 2007 and was awarded a Daytime Emmy award in 2008. And though the appearance of celebrity guests may keep us watching, they are not the ones with staying power. The cast of regular characters—DJ Lance Rock, Muno, Foofa, Brobee, Toodee, and Plex—have made appearances on multiple television shows to date.
So, Yo Gabba Gabba! fans, keep your eyes peeled for not only your friends in the cast at Yo Gabba Gabba!, but also for their celebrity guests. You never know who you might see!
Yo Gabba Gabba is a unique show in and of itself. It has great appeal to a multitude of people and spans many culture, languages, and barriers. But what makes this show so amazingly popular? Is it the live action puppets? Or the indie rock music? Or those cool 8 bit looking graphics? It’s a combination of all of these things and more.
The Yo Gabba Gabba Live Show toured 55 cities and performed 130 shows in 2011. Not bad for a show that’s already in its fourth season. Usually it takes at least 20 years for a brand to catch on to all age groups. Not only has this show caught the attention of preschoolers, toddlers, and adults alike, but it’s caught the attention of 20 and 30 somethings.
The show also has many retro elements in it, making it look like a show from the 70s. Retro is back in style and so is Steve Urkel. This day and age it’s cool to wear just about anything, especially if it’s mismatched. Perhaps that’s why adults and hipsters everywhere are embracing their inner child and rockin’ the Yo Gabba Gabba shirts. Click on the link and then select “adult” under the “clothing” tab. We also have styles for your little tike too. You can even put their name on it.

It has been been proven that kids do better in school when they are actively involved in music. Music also helps with reading, concentration, math and science skills, because it adds to children’s cognitive and reasoning development. Also children are more likely to set goals, get along with peers, and go to college. If something like being involved with music is all it takes, why not get them started early on?
We really have to commend shows that help kids learn by using music in a fun and exciting way. Yo Gabba Gabba uses fun songs to teach kids everything from how to eat healthy to how to wash your hands. Your kids will surely remember how do these tasks more if they find themselves singing the songs (which I often do).
You don’t have to be a virtuoso to start your interest in music-it can begin at a very young age! We here at Ty’s Toy Box have one item that will stir the musical interest in your little one- Plex’s keytar! The keytar is a combination of a keyboard and guitar. You can play the notes on the keyboard, strum the guitar, or a little of both. It’s an adorable gift especially for 2-year-olds and up. Alternatively, if you’re looking to bust a few moves, consider Yo Gabba Gabba’s Boom Box Theater! Both of these can be found in Yo Gabba Gabba toys.
Yo Gabba Gabba continues to collaborate with a lot of high profile people and musicians on their show, known as the Super Music Friends Show. First Jimmy Fallon and now Band of Horses. Yo Gabba Gabba is so much fun to watch! I honestly can’t get enough. Check out the clip below:
