Ben 10 Omniverse

Ben 10Beginning in a few months (September), The Cartoon Network will roll out another season of Ben 10, called Ben 10 Omniverse. This is the fourth installment of the Ben 10 series. In this series, Ben is a more mature 16-year-old. He actually travels back in time to assist himself as a 10-year-old boy. Both of them will be traveling side by side in the series.

Derrick J. Wyatt, who animated Scooby Doo! Mystery Incorporated and Transformers: Animated, designed the concept art and characters for Ben 10: Omniverse. The new cartoon style looks more like an anime character, as Ben 10’s body appears a little bit taller and thinner. This design was first unveiled at 2012 UK Toy Fair.

Ben 10 started from scratch and its popularity has grown over these past 7 years, surpassing the likes of Cartoon Network staples, including Green Lantern, Teen Titans, and Batman. Studios have been struggling for some time to reinvent these other comic book stories. However, Ben 10 is now the network’s hottest franchise, selling billion of dollars worth of merchandise and setting record ratings.

So what’s the plot line for this new series? No one knows exactly for sure, but what we do know is that Ben is able to transform into 10 aliens now. He can also drive, date, and stay out late, so parents: Watch out! He seeks to explore a secret alien city with his Grandpa Max, but must fight aliens from the past. A new enemy seeks to destroy him….and the list goes on. One question remains: Are you ready for it?

In case you missed it, a sneak peak at the new Ben 10 series aired during Ben 10 Week (March 19, 2012 – March 24, 2012)!

Ben 10: A Show That Mom and Dad Can Enjoy, Too!

You’re never too old to enjoy cartoons, especially if you have children that enjoy them. Many parents today grew up with the first or second generation of the very same comic and cartoon characters their children now enjoy, so it makes sense that they would continue to be fans! Don’t discredit newer shows, though. You might be surprised to find something new that you enjoy just as much as your old favorites.

Take, for example, the cartoon Ben 10. It may not have been around thirty years, but it is still a favorite among contemporary parents. The show is similar to many
superhero storylines they’ve seen before—Good Guy has special, secret skills to help him fight the Bad Guy. This time, though, there is a science-fiction element to the
premise. Ben 10’s skills come from a device called the Omnitrix, which allows him to evolve into various alien species. This is a story that many comic and cartoon fans
haven’t seen before!

If you’re a parent whose child enjoys the show, maybe you should sit-in and watch it together some time. You might be surprised by how much you’ll enjoy it. And, then, the next time your son asks you for a new Ben 10 shirt, maybe you’ll consider buying one for yourself, too!

Ben 10 live action motion picture in the making

Ben 10, Ben Ten, Ben 10 Alien ForceAttention all you Ben 10 fans! Joel Silver of Silver Pictures is putting together a live-action Ben 10 movie along with Cartoon Network this year. They have hired Albert Torres to write a script for the film. Torres recently helped to rewrite the Warner Bros. motion picture, “Akira.” A distributor is still being sought, but most likely Warner Brothers will be chosen, given the relationship that Joel Silver has with them.

This is extremely exciting, as Joel Silver has almost single handedly reinvented the action film genre with the production of such movies as The Matrix and the Sherlock Holmes series. His current motion picture, “Project X,” as well as “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows” have already grossed nearly $500 million worldwide (Sounds like he won’t have any problem pulling in the cash for this movie!).

Torres has been given the task of pulling out all the stops and turning Ben 10 into an impressive, big budget, action-oriented adventure. Although Torres’s work has been somewhat adult oriented in the past (Very Bad Things, Chuck Palahniuk’s Survivor), he may be ready for lighter hearted fare with his more recent contributions, including Akira.  Akira is the adaptation of the 1988 anime film, in which the leader of a biker gang tries to rescue his friend who has been kidnapped and used as the subject of a supernatural experiment (sounds like it’s right up Ben 10’s alley, doesn’t it?).

To get ready for the release of this film, you may want to stock up on your Ben 10 action figures and Ben 10 costumes. We may only have these for so long, and we don’t want to sell out.
