Maryoku: A Yummy Idea

Perhaps one of the cutest cartoon shows that I’ve ever seen is Maryoku Yummy. Maryoku lives in a dream world called the Nozomu, in which reside tiny beings called wishes. The wishes resemble tiny little marshmallow rectangles with a little swirly cue on top, which is reminiscent of Cindy Loo Hoo from Whoville in The Grinch.

Every time a child makes a wish, the tiny being travels to the land of Nozomu. Maryoku is a wish-sitter (or Yummy), which is a full time job. Maryoku likes to travel with her friends Ooka and Fij Fij throughout Nozomu, meeting with other friends and solving everyday problems. Other wish-sitters also watch the wishes, caring for each one and teaching them life lessons along the way. When a real wish is granted, the wish being shimmers and shines.

Saint Etienne composed the music for this adorable cartoon show, which the band described as, “Teletubbies meets Spirited Away”. (Indeed, watching it I was reminded of the fantastical, whimsical colors that were used by Hayao Miyazaki in Ponyo.)Maryoku Yummy was created by American Greetings. When it premiered, it came with a line of merchandise geared towards children and tweens. The tween merchandise was also featured in 600 U.S. Limited Too and Justice stores.

Maryoku Yummy still airs on The Hub, Thursdays at 10:30 am and 11:00 am EST.

The Care Bears are making a comeback…to your t.v.

It’s those lovable, cuddly bears, making a comeback as your favorite animated T.V. show! Many popular cartoons from the 1980s have already made a huge comeback-Thundercats, the Smurfs, and Transformers, to name a few. Similarly, remakes of popular comic strips have been marvelously popular today, including the remaking of Captain America, Thor, and the Avengers into movies.

These cuddly characters first started out as an American Greeting card in 1981.  The Care Bears, like many other characters, are celebrating their 30th year anniversary! American Greetings plans to re-launch the newly animated TV Series much like they re-launched the Strawberry Shortcake series. They first launch the cartoon series. Then, if the audience likes the cartoons, they produce a line of plush toys the following year. To me, this seems like a brilliant idea. Why waste money on producing toys when no one likes the show to begin with?  This concept really seems to be working well for American Greetings, as the Strawberry Shortcake series are really solid and in no danger of disappearing anytime soon.

American Greetings is looking to target girls from ages 2-7 with the new Care Bears launch. They are also hoping to help parents reconnect with a brand that they may have themselves grown up with (I know I’m one of them) :)

Regardless, the Care Bears still exude great message of caring and sharing with one another. This could be one of the secrets behind their success, and why they are still hugely popular even after 30 years. Check out out Care Bears kids party supplies today.

We also have picnic sets of Strawberry Shortcake with good friends, like Lemon Meringue and Raspberry Tart.  The play set includes mini scented figurines and as well as mini chairs, sandwiches, and a pie. Isn’t your imaginary appetite already starting to grow?

Let’s not forget the newest addition to Strawberry Shortcake’s circle of friends, who’s making news on CNN, Cherry Jam! Both Strawberry Shortcake and Cherry Jam love to sing together. However, Cherry Jam is very down to earth, and does not let the fact that she is a star get to her head.  Ty’s Toy Box also has Cherry Jam T-shirts, so you won’t want to miss out.

Also, with the holidays just around the corner, we have stocked up on Strawberry Shortcake items.  We have Christmas stockings, and apron and chef hat for your little chef to help out in the kitchen, as well as a growth chart to measure their growth. Caring with the Care Bears

If you are thinking of a fun cuddly friend to curl up with for the holidays, look no further! The Care Bears are timeless furry friends that will never leave you alone.  The care bears were created in 1981 as part of American Greetings for use in their greeting cards, and are still going strong today.

Take for instance Grumpy Bear. Grumpy Bear is often always complaining about something and grumbling nonsense words to himself. However, beneath his rough exterior we suspect a genuinely caring bear with a kind heart.

Funshine Bear has a bright yellow sun for his belly badge and likes to bring the sunshine wherever he goes. He is the opposite of Grumpy Bear and treats everyone like a good friend.  He likes fun, games, and joking.

Then there’s Share Bear, who is purple and has curly hair.  She freely passes out hugs and carries around a bag of lollipops to-you guessed it-SHARE them!

Cheer Bear’s belly badge speaks for itself. With her rainbow belly badge and personality you can always count on her to give you a hug or cheer you up whenever you need it most.

Last but not least, Oopsy Bear is very clumsy and often says, “Oopsie!” when he runs into things, but his friends don’t hold that against him. He is unique in that he can draw what he happens to be feeling on his belly.

Go to AGKidZone to check out more about these awesome bears and play some cool games!

Ty’s Toy Box offers the Care Bears in a water-friendly mesh fabric, which is good for the bath, pool, and beach.

Another unique gift opportunity is the Care Bears Tenderheart Bear Canvas Wall Art. This is an unframed square design that measures 16″ x 16″.  You may also personalize this gift, up to 9 characters. Your little one will feel special with their name decorating this Wall Art design.  You will also find countless Care Bear knick knacks such as notes and party favors.  Don’t wait until it’s too late to order these for the holidays.  As Cheer Bear herself suggested, “We don’t need to huff and puff, let’s get it done.”
